Kenneth “Ookie” Raiford was born on April 21, 1963 to the late Jacob Leon and Cherrie Lee Raiford in Wayne County, North Carolina.
He attended the Wayne County Public Schools and then to Job Corp received a trade ion brick mason. He worked at Borden manufacturers until his health declined and then began doing odd jobs around town.
He was predeceased in death by his parents and one brother, Timothy Raiford.
He was a loving, devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. No one was exempt from getting told off by Ookie.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: three daughters, Carolina McNeil, Latasha Pickett, and Temekia Pickett, all of Goldsboro, NC; four brothers: Derwood (Latonya) Altman of Bridgeport, CT., Jacob Leon Raiford, Jr., of Hartford, CT., John A. (Connie) Raiford, and Donald Raiford both of Goldsboro, three grandsons: Brian Darden and Deric Middleton of Goldsboro, NC, and Jashawn Middleton of Raleigh, NC; four granddaughters, Makenya Matthews, De’Avion Edwards, and Nakiah McNeil of Goldsboro, NC and Dekiyah Middleton of Raleigh, NC, three great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
